Our History

On September 17th, 1971, at 342 San Martín St. (Ushuaia), a new office opened it doors. It architecture was very different from the other buildings along this short but very important street of Ushuaia city. It was not the new building what caught the attention of the local people but the new type of activity.  That day the first travel agency of Ushuaia was born. It name: Rumbo Sur.

In 2001 we opened a new office at El Calafate to cover the attention required by the people visiting two of of the main destinations at Patagonia.

The most complete agency

There are different departments within our offices: Reception and assistance for incoming visitors, sales of national and international day tours, sales of air tickets and outbound tourism services to the rest the world are some of this areas.

In addition we sale, receive  and assist cruise ships sailing the South Atlantic Ocean including those visiting Antarctica. We design and operate land and navigation tours both domestic and international.  And we have a highly trained staff that assist our visitors at all time.

We also coordinate transfers, hotel accommodation and restaurants reservations both in Ushuaia and El Calafate.

At the present, beside being the first travel agency of Ushuaia, Rumbo Sur is leader in Patagonia. High quality, excellence and more than 50 years of experience characterize our services.

About Línea B

Línea B, maritime excursions, and Rumbo Sur, are companies with a long history. They were founded by Eduardo Brisighelli, a local fisherman with a lot of experience in these southern seas, and his wife Ms. Pocha Sureda.

Mr Eduardo was a tireless worker, a dreamer, a visonary with a strong will, an active and experienced businessman, who sought out to bring value and draw attention to Tierra del Fuegos´ resources. He was a pioneer in multiple productive activities related to the natural resources of the island. One of those was  the installation, in the sixties, of a mussel processing plant at Bahía Lapataia, a place that nowadays is one of the main attractions of Tierra del Fuego National Park, where he lived with his family in a time when there were not routes communicating the area with the city.

A whole life next to Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel

Mr. Eduardo saw the turistic potential of the navigations through the Beagle Channel due to it fauna, history and geography.  So he adapted a small fishing boat, the ‘Angel B’, which became the first tourist boat to operate on the Bealge Channel. He designed most of the maritime tours that are done in the area until nowadays.

In the 1980s he made built, on a shipyard in the argentine city of Tigre, the first catamaran for tourist purposes that navigated this area and thar still navigates for the company: the ‘Ana B’. He designed it and personally followed the whole process.

Nowadays, the company is manage by his sons, continuing with what had become a family tradition that started more than 50 years ago. It counts with three catamarans, the Ana B, the Ezequiel MB, and the Eduardo B, which can transportate about 470 passengers all together.
